    Default Volume Pedals

I am wondering if there is a difference between using the volume control(s) on the guitar and/or using a volume pedal. It is a known fact that decreasing the volume via the guitar’s volume control has an overall effect on treble/bass and voltage output through the potentiometer(s). Does using a volume pedal have the same effect or is there a benefit in the output to the amp with a pedal?

I think maybe it just helps you to drive the amp better, but I don't really know much about volume pedals.
