Awesome. I love Explosions In the Sky, and that album in particular is quite good. They definitely make me think about guitar in a different way.Originally Posted by Ro3b

COOL. Growing up in Atlanta, I saw Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony more times than I can count.

You and me both. That Telarc recording is the best I've ever heard of The Messiah. The music is powerful--one of the finest examples of Baroque composition that you will find. The person who chose the texts was absolutely brilliant. I was just finishing writing my sermon--that's my sermon-writing music.Originally Posted by tunghaichuan
I posted before seeing what you had just posted. The juxtaposition was rather interesting

I'm not sure which recording I have, but it isn't Telarc. Thanks for the recommendation, I may have to pick that one up.

It was a great show. Omar Torres on guitar is a bad mother.

Yeah, Budos Band II is a great album. Mas o Menos is probably my fav track.Originally Posted by R_of_G

On my MP3 player today:
The bass playing is fantastic.
Guitars: Epiphone SG-400 Custom; Epiphone Firebird V; 1996 Gibson LP Standard; Avion 4; Yamaha FG-301B acoustic
FX: TS-808; Big Muff (Triangle Version); Red Llama; Green Ringer Octave Up (Clones); Maxon Phaser; Maxon Compressor; Tremulus Lune Tremolo; Line 6 POD II
Amp: (Somewhere in another country) Hiwatt 100W head, Marshall 4x12 cab
My noise here
They're one of the few bands I can honestly say that I love every track they've done so far. Granted, it's only two albums, but still, they've got a 100% success rate with me so far. Hands down, my favorite so far is "Aynotchesh Yererfu" from the first album. One of the things that sets the Budos Band apart from a lot of other afro-funk bands are the brilliant melodic sensibilities of their horn section. That song is one where it's the most evident. I've often said, if I were a character in an action film, that song would be what plays when my character comes on screen to kick some butt.Originally Posted by Suhnton
I can't wait for the new EP on the 23rd. If it's anything like the first two albums, expect to see it posted in this thread a lot in the weeks to come.
I also agree with you about wanting to see EITS expand their sound, but I do enjoy what they've done so far even if it's fairly similar from album to album.
It's nice to know someone who knows who Budos Band and EITS are.
