I pulled out this album and have been listening to it a lot lately:
It doesn't hurt that Chrissy Amphlett is a total babe.
Also pulled out my copies of VH1 & VH2:
I've always like VH better with DLR than Sammy.

Country and Western .
this is a band i think SVL would enjoy. others too, but he comes to mind when i think of solid garage/punk.

the band that did more than anyone to revive garage/punk in nyc in the 90's. often imitated, never duplicated. nobody brings it as hard and as nasty as the dogs

OOHH OOOOHH, i'm listening to last days of humanity's album putrefaction in progress, I've been REEEEAAALLLYYY pissed lately, and the absolute pure noise that this album is helps to clear my head (I haven't bought the album, it's actually on youtube in 3 parts.if you like music, it's best not to look for it on youtube)

My radio!!!
My new (used) car only has an FM/Cassette, so I am stuck listening to the radio. Fortunately we have a station that is commercial free called the Alternation. They have a weak signal (down at 88.9 on the dial) and broadcast out of a high school in Streetsboro Ohio. Fortunately I live close and I work close (inside the red circle on the attached map), so it is an opportunity to hear new national and local artists.

John Zorn's "The Dreamers"
Live Feb 7, 2009
this band doesn't necessarily have an official name per se. they were the band for "the gift" album and for "the dreamers" album so people have taken to calling them the dreamers now. this show from february was the debut of material for their new album which will be released on the 28th (i assure you, you will be seeing it a lot in here in the weeks and months to come). this band is zorn at his most accessible and features some fantastic playing from mr. ribot.
the band is...
marc ribot - guitar
jamie saft - piano/organ/keys
kenny wolleson - vibes
joey baron - drums
trevor dunn - bass
cyro baptista - percussion
john zorn - sax/conductor

Having an inward-turning kind of weekend.
This is one of my favorite albums ever. It gets stranger and more beautiful every time I listen to it. Lyrics that grab your heart and squeeze, even as you're wondering exactly what they mean.
