A few good songs, but several duets with his son, Lukas, were almost unlistenable.
John Mayer - Born And Raised
Just had the first listen. I didn't know what to expect, which is a good way to let something unfold. A few songs have a slight country sound. Most are acoustic guitar with just a few backing instruments. It flows well and has a nice, well produced sound to it. It verges on easy listening at times.
What he does here, he does quite well. It depends on if you like what is going on, though. I'll give it a few more spins, but I'm not connecting to it much. I like John's blues trio quite a bit, and some of his other work. He certainly is trying a new direction. I'm not sure if it will do well, but you never know.
Jack White - Blunderbuss
I'm not much of a Jack White fan, but there are a few pretty good songs here. It has a wide range of styles that come from his various projects. Fans will love it. At least he blazes his own musical path, which I can respect.
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings The Flood
I know some rave about Neko. It might take a few more listens. I'm not overly taken yet. A few songs even remind me of the Cocteau Twins.

Slash - Apocalyptic Love
I wasn't expecting much after his past solo album, but this is a real rocker. Much better than the releases from Chickenfoot and recent VH, for instance.
Song writing has improved tremendously. The band is tight and Myles Kennedy's singing helps (unless you don't like his voice). Slash's playing fits the songs and isn't the ol' guitar god wanking that others tend to do. He's also not just repeating the same GnR style solos, but has grown as a lead player.
Even if you hate Slash, he should at least be commended for finally making a decent post GnR album.
Joe Bonamassa - Driving Towards the Daylight
Pretty good. Maybe a little better than Dust Bowl.

I remember not "getting it" years ago when listening to Miles' first 2 electric/fusion releases, so I'm jumping in again. I think my music taste and appreciation had to grow up some. I think I'll be playing a bit of guitar with In A Silent Way.

Joanna Connor........"Big Girl Blues". Balls-to-the-wall git playing along with some nasty slide. Superb git player. Interesting lyrics. Best two cuts are "You Oughta Know" and "Juicy", both monster slide tunes. Oh can the girl PLAY.

Great new release showing the band at it's best, live!
The 11 minute jam covering Sly and the Family Stone's "I Want to Take You Higher" is worth the price alone. In addition to material from the recent Revelator album, they soulfully cover songs by Stevie Wonder ("Uptight" ), Muddy Waters ("Rollin' And Tumblin'"), Bill Withers ("Kissin' My Love"), Joe Cocker ("Darlin' Be Home Soon"), Bobby Bland ("That Did It"), Harry Nilsson ("Everybody's Talkin'") and the Staple Singers ("Wade In The Water").

"Egg Radio" has always been my among my favorite of Frisell's compositions (along with "Lookout for Hope"). It's gone through many forms over the course of him playing it with different lineups. I too prefer the versions without horns (an odd occurrence for me).
