That's one of my go-to albums when I can't figure out what to listen to. It never disappoints.

No cover artwork that I could find online so I'll give you the website: http://www.danmumm.com

Dan Mumm is a Metal Method instructor that had a successful Kickstarter to do an instrumental album. I contributed and got the downloadable version ahead of its general availability. I will be getting a signed physical copy once they're done. If you don't like neoclassical shred, don't bother clicking on the link. I like the album quite a bit. The songs hold together as songs and not just exercises in shreddery, although there's gobs of that too. The album is entitled "A Glimpse Beyond."
Axen: Jackson DK2M, Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster, Reverend Warhawk 390, Taylor 914ce, ESP LTD Surveyor-414
Amphen: Jet City JCA22H and JCA12S cab, Carvin X-60 combo, Acoustic B20
Effecten: "Thesis 96" Overdrive/Boost (aka DVM OD2), Hardwire DL-8 Digital Delay/Looper, DigiTech Polara Reverb, DigiTech EX-7 Expression Factory and CF-7 Chorus Factory, Danelectro CF-1 Cool Cat Fuzz

Dave Brubeck - Jazz Impressions of Japan
Not the usual complex time signatures, nor Japanese.

Today is Tom Waits' birthday. I've listened to nothing but Waits today at work and in the car. Now I'm home, and it's this one..

I realized that I don't own Heartattack and Vine! That's weird since it was my first exposure to Tom (thanks, Dad!).
I'll fix that, as well as Nighthawks At The Diner and Real Gone.

Real Gone contains some tremendous guitar work from Marc Ribot as well, of both the beautiful and the incendiary varieties.

This is at least as good as I hoped it would be, if not much much better. I've only had it a day so far.

Yep, it turned out to be a well recorded, well played concert.

    Ordered this today...

    New:
    Donald Fagen - Sunken Condos

Edit: Wow, this has some great tracks. The last song, "Planet D'Rhonda", features beautiful guitar solo work by Kurt Rosenwinkel.
