Lindsey Buckingham - Seeds We Sow
Giving it a fair shot, but it needs a few more listens. A few so-so songs, but mostly keepers. He creates some nice textures in his music that we didn't always see in Fleetwood Mac.

Supposed to play with a friend tomorrow night.
Probably do a couple from this one ("Dead Flowers" for sure).

This showed up in the mail 2 days ago. There are several songs that I'll put in the top Smithereens all time list.

Love this one.
Hard to believe it's ten years old already.

Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn of Events
Fairly typical Dream Theater stuff. Sounds pretty good with the new drummer. The keyboards drive me nuts sometimes, but that is always a DT issue for me.
EDIT: The more times I listen, the better this album gets.

Heh, probably not. I'm only about half way listening to it for the first time. My initial reaction is that there's more melodic-esque moments than I expected (or I'm getting more metal as I get older). The first track and the two "Hymn" tracks are probably unnecessary. I suppose it's ambiance or something. Further report when I get through it a time or two.
Edit: After a couple of listens, I would say that there's some really good stuff on here. The first track and "Hymn" tracks (as I previously mentioned) could have been left off and no one really would have been the wiser. The first part of the album is much better than the end. The last three tracks are hit-and-miss. "Crawl" is just OK. "The Constant" and "Revolution Screams" definitely have their moments. The latter has about a five minute gap before another five minute "hidden" track kicks in, which I find annoying more than anything else.
Tracks 2-5 are really good, with "Fight 'Em Til You Can't" being the best, IMO. That one is up there with my favorite Anthrax songs ("Bring the Noise," "Got the Time," "Antisocial," among others). Tracks 7, 8, and 10 are good too, although "In the End" seems more melodic in the refrain than I would expect from them. They have some Maiden-esque guitar parts in there that make up for that, IMO.
Overall, I'd say that this album is definitely worth the cash. Anthrax with Joey Belladonna--what's not to love? I'll just play the beginning of the album far more than I'll play the end. Old skool thrash fans might be put off by the album's melodic moments. Those moments aren't SO melodic though that it would appeal to the typical fan of, say, Poison or Motley Crue. It is still definitely thrash. My wife will hate it![]()
