good LORD, haven't had this much fun in a while. Put this on this on while "working" at my desk this morning, and quickly found myself with a semi in my hands, on my feet, soloing along and actually jumping around. This is great music.

I challenge you to put "What'd I say" on, pick up your guitar, and not have a blast.

Sco did a full album tribute to Ray Charles with numerous guest musicians. Many good tracks.

Wow, that was a great song and quite an ensemble of talent. I'll have to check out the album.
Thanks for yet another excellent exposure, R_of_G!

I have a feeling I've posted these before, but they're too good not to post again:

I'm going to have to get that. I've only got Still Life so far but it is definitely awesome. I'm disappointed they didn't play Burden though, but I suppose they're sick of it by now...

This band lists their influences as "reverb, delay, drums, heavy, tremolo, feedback, guitars, repetition."

Very reminiscent of bands like Spacemen 3 or Jesus & Mary Chain without being entirely derivative.

Default R.E.M. - Collapse Into Now

Edit: A few more listens, and I can still say,
"It is nice to have them back". A few songs even remind me of the IRS Records days.
Not a full house of best ever songs, but there's enough here for any fan to be glad they got the album.

    First listen...

    From Amazon.com:

The Majestic Silver Strings is Buddy's reimagination of classic country songs with unrestrained guitars, atmosphere and attitude. Buddy and the three acclaimed guitarists Bill Frisell, Marc Ribot and Greg Leisz (together they are The Majestic Silver Strings) together push each song into a new cosmos warped in reverb. Guest vocalists include Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Lee Ann Womack, Chocolate Genius and Julie Miller.

For some reason, I never owned this when it came out, even though I liked AiC since the early days.

If "garage/soul" is a genre, this is the best illustration of it.

Saw these guys at the "Folk and Roots" Festival, along with Budos Band, this past July. Seems you'd have enjoyed that weekend, R_of_G! BJL was great!
