    Default Robert Johnsons guitar found!!!! 6 Mio US$

    Okay folks,

    This guitar is supposed to be the real deal, I mean "the" Gibson L-1 Robert is shown with on the only two existing photos that have ever been made of him.

    The prove of authenticity is very interesting in my eyes, worth a read. They measured everything and so on....but still all this leaves doubts to me.

    Here you also find the link to the auction house. I heard that the first bid starts with 6 Mio USd and Clapton, Page and the actor Morgan Freeman will propably fight a little price fight to get this artifact. ( 6 Mio is rather peanuts to them, I believe...)

    Enjoy

    I saw that website awhile back. I'm not convinced. The descriptions of authenticity don't sound wholesome enough. Morgan Freeman? He a blues man?

    erhmmm.. 6 million? Is that pesetas or the real deal? That is probably enough money to convince mr johnson to step up from his grave and play another gig
    I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

    I havent followed up on it but from what I have read those guys have been to court over less than "authentic" auctions in the past. Their proof is real weak as well. For six mil I want a bit more proof than what they're offering.

    Here's some the curators history;
    More on the man selling the guitar - Gary Zimet ("curator") of Moments In Time.

    From where I sit this guy is a schmuck pure and simple.

    Hey man, thanks for this great post. I knew something was wrong with these guys at the auction house. Puhhh, lucky me, I saved the 6 Mio *lol*

    In fact I think it is easy to invest let us say 100.000 USD to organize a piece of wood that is from 1928 and let a master rebuild the guitar. Underpressure chambers do the rest for the structire of the wood and putting Robert's picture under the microscope, even my 4 year old son would have found out that the dots are not symmetrical.

    Yeah, I think I'm calling shenanigans on this too. They should at least have some documentation on how they got it and trace it back to Johnson. While it would be an extraordinary find if this were it, I still thing the $6 million price tag falls under the fool/money category.

    Again about Morgan Freeman....is he really a player or does he merely collect?

    The website is just too easy ya know? I mean here all of a sudden is....Robert Johnson's guitar! Bid on it! Don't think so. I'm betting that Eric and Pagey got a chuckle out of it. Perhaps even Morgan.

    As far as I know, Morgan is not an active player, but I bet he's got some nice guitars and collector items at home anyway! He is just a Blues lover, or better said infected by the Robert Johnson virus.

    Aren't we all! I should do some investigation on Mr. Morgan. Sounds interesting. I remember him first as being Easy Reader on Electric Company (a kids show in the 70s).
