Listening now thanks.
He does look like his dad for sure. I first became aware that he's playing music on the Concert For George DVD. Otherwise I wouldn't have known.
thenewno2 (sounds like the new number two) is co-founded by Dhani Harrison. I was turned onto the group in one of the guitar magazine's interview with Dhani, so I bought the second album, "You Are Here".
You can listen to all of the tracks on the Rhapsody page: http://www.rhapsody.com/thenewno2-2
While some of the tracks are a little more electronic backed than i usually like, they use it well, more for an ambient backing that works. Dhani's slide guitar and vocals are sometimes hauntingly like his Beatle father's, but maybe a little softer. He recorded most of the album in his father's old London studio, and played many of George's guitars.
The use of multi layered beats, electronics, guitar, and bass create a fresh new sound. If you are looking for a guitar driven sound, well, maybe not on this album. His touring band replaces most of the electronic backing with a drummer and bass player, so a live show should be great.
I recommend the whole album, but the tracks that are still on my iPod after 6 weeks are:
So Vain
Bluesy
Crazy Tuesday
Back to You
Give You Love
Another John Doe
Idle Lover
Oh, yeah, he looks very close to his dad, not that it matters.
