GuitarDaterProject is a good source.
I've attached 2 references from the Blue Book of Electric Guitars.
One is from the 9th Ed. (1999) and provides an authoritative breakdown of the mysteries of vintage Gibson serialization.
The other, which I posted a year ago, is from 11th ed. (2007), updated and clearer on identifying newer Gibsons.
