    Default Yet another new one

As mentioned in the F/S section of the fret I decided to off load a few to make room for.....

A late 80's Guild D60. Built in Westerly, R.I.. Designed by George Gruhn and Kim Walker. These Walker/Gruhn Guilds are just awesome guitars. Spruce and Rosewood. Arrived today. The ex washburn forum members might guess at the source.

So, bottom line this guitar is just stunning. Huge sound, big, bold, bright. Lots of that dread rumble. I had been playing for about 20 minutes or so when Mrs. Keel came into the room. I was grinning ear to ear and she said " well your obviously very happy". I asked her what do you think and she says "It's really big". I told her it's pretty much the same size as the Martin and she says. "not the size, the sound. It sounds big." Pretty much sums it up.

Congrats, evenkeel! I know how much I love my '06 Made in China Guild Jumbo, so I can imagine how that Westerly is even SO much sweeter! Quite an excellent score there, my friend! :

I would be happy with a Tacoma built D-50, but this one makes me really drool.

Now that I've had the chance to really spend some playing time and put on a needed set of new strings I'm even more impressed. This dread is phenomenal. With the new strings the bass just roars out and the mids and top end sparkle. Finger picked the notes ring out with exceptional clarity and strummed the guitar has a huge sound. I've had the good fortune to play some terrific guitars and even own a few. My Guild D35 is a terrific Mahogany dread. I've got friends who've let me wack away at D45's, 000-28's, McQuinn signature Martin 7 string, Gibson J-45's.... This Guild is right up with the very best of them. I can't remember ever being this excited about a new guitar.

A proper "banjo killer" and no mistake :
    Electric: Fat strat > Korg PB > TS7 > DS1 > DD-20 > Cube 60 (Fender model)

Acoustic: Guitar > microphone > audience

They made some great guitars in that Westerly plant. Your trusty D-35 was (is) one of the understated gems. Now you scored a true crown jewel. Great for an acousticat such as you, 'keel. :
