Oh yeah Tool rules...some of the older material is kinda tiring to listen to for long but 10k days really hit home for me.
One band I always liked, especially the last 4 albums is System of a Down. Probably the most 'metal' band I really dig a lot.

Tig, yeah I know. He got better and a lot more confident, see below. Next time I'll add a smiley to indicate irony, OK?

OK...one more for your consideration.
Justin Derrico doesn't get much coverage. I think he's a great underrated younger guitarist.
And I dig this face-melting demo for the Alchemist!
Is Noel a great guitar player or does he steal from the best.
Great thread! As a blues fan, I've heard almost all the blues guitarists.
The Delgado Brothers is a rare treat. I'll have to look up more of them.
I'm not a fan of the uber-shredding. I do admire the technique but it doesn't move me. But to each his own.
A great way to get inspiration all in one place!

On a more serious note, how about Chris Duarte?

Guitars: Lots.
Amphs: More than last year.
Pedals: Many, although I go straight from guitar to amp more often lately.
Both? I'll never say he's the most amazingly-fast player you'll ever find, but he unearths some incredibly memorable tunes, guitar lines, and solos.Originally Posted by guitartango

I love this one, particularly the guitar bits he puts in toward the end:

Isn't he supposedly one of the current guitar tone kings? I've dabbled in Tool, but have never really given them a series of honest listens, so I don't know a whole ton about them. They seem to have carved out a solid art-metal niche.Originally Posted by Tig
