    Anybody know what kind of pickups are in those ?

    Alnico 3 or 5 ?

    You'd be best off mailing Fender support for that one. I'd guess A5 from that period.

    A buddy of mine has an 89 and they are very mellow sounding pickups. I am pretty sure they are A5s but they may have lost some magnestism after almost 20 years.

    I own a '91 American Standard Strat and, while I'm not sure what magnets they had, they were unimpressive. Just dull and generic sounding.
