You're trying to play an mp3, I presume? The mp3 format has some copyright/licensing junk on it, so it's not installed by default, as Linux loves only open-source stuff (e.g. ogg vorbis) by default.Originally Posted by ibanezjunkie
The mp3 codec (what translates the mp3 for the computer) is an add-on for rhythmbox and other audio players. I think that you should be able to solve it by going to a terminal window and typing the following:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
