It is a cool development (especially for me as an application developer). However, it does have issues...
Basically it's a simple breakout/splitter cable. There's no impedance matching and the quality of cable used means that you get inductive cross-talk at high volumes. I've given the cable a thorough review and addressed its shortcomings on my blog if you are interested...
Having said all that, the iPhone and iPod Touch are powerful devices and can do plenty of DSP in real-time so expect to see more apps coming to the market to make use of this.

I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009
