Actually they were kinda made like a semi-hollowbody...
Front, back, sides, etc...
Front and back were masonite, sides and center support(s) were poplar, pine, or whatever else was cheap (not necessary durable). Then the whole thing was covered with vinyl or something like that. Quite an interesting choice for making a guitar. I guess they could have been worse... Fiberglass, like an Airline.
