Default Some Bayou and some Boggie weekend...!

Attended the Bayou 'n Boogie Festival, South coast , MA this weekend, and hasd tons of fun. Small-scale venue, dance floor (Zydeco crowd), easy to mingle with performers...

    Two discoveries:
Little Freddie King: the way country blues used to be(?), the real deal. We had a nice, short chat. I think this is the first time I danced over blues music with my sweetie!

The Al Berard Cajun Combo: absolutely amazing fiddle/mandolin player, storyteller of the Cajun musical lore, recent and past.
The "Combo" players were guest performers in a Cajun band, on main stage, then they did an intimate, small-room session that was delightful. Al's violin AND mandolin techniques are something to be heard, and so are his band partners (their site has a nice sampler). His lively and enthusiastic personality takes you along the tunes like nothing... very cool stuff.

    A great day.
