    Default Positions?

Hey there guys, I'm not a big expert on pickups (or anything else actually) but as I understand, the bridge pickup is supposed to provide better treble, while the neck pickup gives nice round bass, so I'm curious, what does the middle pickup do, provide better mids?

In short - yes, but more due to it's location under the strings, and I'll assume that you're talking about single coils.

A lot of middle pickups (in sets) are reverse wound to aid in hum cancellation. The cool part of three singles is that you can get a huge variety of tone based on your choice of pickups.
