Happy birthday, Doug! Hope you get lots of GAS relief today!

Happy day to you Tig. In your honor I just did a sweet 40 mile road ride and dedicated the hills to you. And I bet you aren't even tired? See, you're aging very well. No worries, eh.
At least you aren't this guy. You've got at least until 60 before birthdays feel like this.

Ha! Tele-ish now inbound.
Wow, I feel so invigorated after your ride! ThxOriginally Posted by Spudman

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes and those party hats!

I spent several hours between 3 local guitar shops playing about 15 guitars total and narrowed it down to:
The Yamaha FG730s dreadnought that is slightly thinner than most dread's. It felt perfect in my hands, and sounded like a dream. Solid Sitka spruce top, rosewood back/sides, perfect action, and only $279.
The Seagull Coastline S6 Cedar Folk for $380 was also like magic in my clumsy hands. Beautiful tones and nice projection for a slightly smaller guitar. Solid cedar top, cherry back and sides. It became the yardstick to measure others against in the sub-$400 range.
I'll go back and play the Seagull again since it was at a different shop where the Yamaha is, and go from there. In the $500-$650 range, a Guild and an Epiphone Masterbuilt edged out the other two guitars, but surprisingly, not by that much. I let my ears soak up the various tones while my hands measured the necks and actions.
