    Default The Dreaded 'B' Word

After shopping for several months for an affordable eight buss, doing a lot of searching, reading, and question asking, I decided on the new Behringer SX4882 console for the studio.

The kicker was 15% off through the 4th of July holiday. I looked hard at the Mackie eight bus, but even with 15% off, I still couldn't swing it.

On the up side, I haven't heard anything negative anywhere about this console. I've had it for three weeks now with no glitches. The pre's are quiet. Much quieter than I expected, and the EQ is usable as well with a wide sweep on the two mid controls.

Any routing option for all channels and sends that you could imagine is there and the meter bridge kicks *** too. I moved up from a TASCAM M-1516 board. I really wanted a TASCAM M2524 eight-buss, but all that I found on e-bay were "local pickup only". All were very affordable too.

Anyway, this certainly sounds better than I ever expected, better in fact than the M-1516. Time will tell whether or not this holds up like the TASCAM did for 20+ years.

Nice man. I'm always looking for the next upgrade for my studio. I currently run a Tascam M-1508 and really like what it does. My only qualm is the lack of phantom power. I don't use the buses since I run the direct outs right into my converters (M-Audio Delta 1010). I'll have to check out Behringer's studio boards. I'm glad to hear you like your's.
