Default If your guitar is neck heavy

Well, then Joe Naylor has the solution - http://www.headsupstrap.com

Cool idea. I might get one for my SX Jazz Bass.

Joe always make good quality stuff - he's a great guy.

I saw that, too. It might be good for certain applications.
The 8 oz. counter weights might make a neck heavy chambered Les Paul weigh as much as a solid body, which makes things a bit silly!

Then again, if you have a well made Brookwood Leather strap, you won't need the Heads Up strap!

    No ubiquitous "increases sustain" claim....
Ah, nothing relieves the discomfort of GAS pains like the sound of the UPS truck rumbling down your street. It's like the musician's Beano.

Cool idea. My Hag could use it sometimes. It can feel a bit head heavy if I grab the cheap nylon strap. Tig, are you saying a Brookwood strap also solves the issue?

It might depend on just how heavy the neck is, but the Brookwood's wide, suede lined strap grips and secures really well. This may vary between different styles, but I'm thinking about the Classic and Cut To Size styles would work best.

Maybe Bob can help. Also, didn't someone here get a Brookwood for his zoot suite SG?

I have had a few neck heavy guitars...I corrected them all by shaving a nice chunck out of their necks...made them nicely more suited for the hand too in the process :-)

But, I also did once put some of those car wheel stabilizing sticker lead bits inside my V control cavity for the same effect...until I just shaved its neck thinner too :-)

Ahh, now I feel the need to mod some more guitar necks soon...

I'm guessing your stone guitar is not one that is neck heavy. What is that like granite or something? LOL . I was looking at it in the pic of your mic settup you posted the other day. I was thinking that stone guitar looks like a good battle axe that could be used for gigs in some of the rougher bars in my area. If a fight broke out you could defend the stage and the equipment with it. You could hold your ground quite well with that axe!

I thought of a cheap and festive alternative! Just tie a few of these suckers to your headstock.
It could also lighten a dark toned guitar with airyness...

Tig,you should clarify that you are suggesting using the helium balloons. I would hate to see some poor fretter attach his dogs leash to his headstock. Some dogs don't like the high notes and will take off running when you hit one. We don't need to see any of our fellow fretters chasing his dog down the street with his prized SG dragging behind!

LOL yeah :-) it's soapstone actually. Pretty soft, so I could carve it at home with regular tools (although I guess I did ruin a few chisels and drill bits anyway.) If you happened to miss it, here's a demo of the guitar:

Totally cr*p to play, no truss rod etc. but it sounds just as good basically as any of my electrics, if anything the sound is tighter.

Sorry Dee your demo isn't showing. I did see it a while back though. I think you posted it for me when we were discussing tone woods and stuff like that.

Relocating the strap button on the SG usually solves that problems. I seen some of the artists did just that.

You are correct, sir! How could I be so careless?
Here's a much safer helium ballon application that could be adopted to an SG.

I think it was 'Lawn Chair Larry' that was the first to do that crazt stunt. He reached an altitude of 16,000 feet !
