    Default Little Martin

i just got me a koa one. lemme just say it is now my favourite guitar. this has become the only guitar i play when i practice.

for such a small thing, it has beautiful tone and decent projection.
i don't know why i've got this thing for hobbit guitars

anyone else here big on 'travel guitars'? i'd love to see somemore!

    Hi f1point7,

Yes, I'm big on travel guitars too. I'm not familiar with this Martin that you have. I love Martins, by the way, so I'm sure that this one is really nice.

Since I travel regularly for my work, I bought a Baby Taylor about 5 years ago for a travel-sized guitar. It sounds amazingly good and plays in tune, etc. I have even thought about recording with it because it has a nice tone. As of late I've missed having my electric to practice with when I'm on the road, and I've also had a few issues with the airlines allowing me to carry on the Baby Taylor along with my laptop bag. So, I bought a Traveler Speedster to use as my travel guitar, especially if I'm traveling by air because it's smaller, and I can also use a headphone amp with it.

I'm really liking the Traveler Speedster alot. Here is a link to it:

I also bought a small headphone guitar amp from Korg to go with the Speedster. It has a built-in drum and bass pattern generator and amp modeler, etc. I can't say enough good things about this little box. It's amazing as a practice aid. I'm even using it for recording too. Here is a link to it:

I bought the black one. It was the only one they had in stock at the time and I was getting ready to leave on a trip to China, so I figured what the heck.

    f1point7,

Do you have a picture or a link to this little Martin? I've tried the Martin backpacker but I've never seen this new model that you bought.

I have to admit that I didn't like the backpacker very much. It was too hard to hold onto it sitting down unless you played it wearing a strap.

    f1point1,

I wouldn't worry too much about the size issue, I think that this Martin is fine. I was only hasseled one time with the Baby Taylor, and that was because I had a suitcase with me. These days the airlines make you check most of your overnight stuff anyway, if they contain any liquids, hair gel, etc. So it's less likely that they would stop you for carrying a travel guitar if you didn't have any other carryon luggage. I got the Speedster mostly because I could practice electric-style playing with it.

This martin looks great. I'd bet it sounds fantastic.

Has anyone ever checked a beater electric on a plane flight? In a hardshell case of course.

    Is this a horrible idea?
