Default Sound cutting out when switching between pickups

I'm quite the guitar newbie, so I apologize in advance if my lingo hurts your eyes.

I noticed recently that the sound cuts outs when I switch between bridge/neck pickups. I'll then have to jiggle the switch and sometimes cable to get it back. It also seems to happen if I knock the cable a little. The jack for the cable has always been loose (which I hate) but it never caused issues before.

I am sure I will have to further explain, so please help guide me. The guitar is an Epiphone Special II.

    Thank you for any help!

EDIT: Ehh, scratch that. After sacking up I pulled apart the jack myself. It was just really shoddy workman ship. Everything was misthreaded causes connectivity issues. I fixed it.

Good to know. If I can be of any further assistance, let me know.

I mean, no offense, but I don't really see why, like guitar players from Creed, or something like that, are on the cover of guitar magazines. Almost anybody can sit down and learn to play those songs.
