That's very cool, Brian. Tell her congrats from us here at The Fret.
Off topic, did you start her out with guitar, or go straight to bass?
And a pretty decent beginner bassist.
There better be some dosh in this National Merit Scholar thingy.
I don't think I made a dime off mine.

Guitars: Lots.
Amphs: More than last year.
Pedals: Many, although I go straight from guitar to amp more often lately.
So she obviously doesn't take after her old man....
Congrats!
Drums actually.
Unfortunately I'm a terrible drummer and she didn't like any of the videos and things I found at the library, so she asked if she could switch to bass. She learned on my Precision, and when I knew she'd stick with it we bought her that white Peavey Foundation. That was her 16th birthday. The drums were on her 12th.

Congrats dude. Sorry to hear about her liking the bass!! I mean, no telling what kind of riff-raff Neanderthal she might bring home to the Casa. Just kidding.........but ya know, we Dads worry about stuff like that. Mine is nearly 24, but I still remember those days well.
Most excellent, my Gator friend! I know you are proud of her.

Thanks, my bubbas.
In Monday's mail she got a letter from the Advanced Placement people (I didn't know this was actually an organization) that she is also an "Advanced Placement Scholar" as well. I'm not sure exactly what that means but hopefully she'll get a batch of college credit for all the AP classes she is taking. I know I got through undergrad in 3 years instead of 4 thanks to AP.
Here's a terrible pic of me and a great pic of her at the National Merit Scholar Breakfast on last Wednesday:
