Cool NGD: Epiphone LP Standard Plus-Top Les Paul

Here is a Epiphone LP Standard Plus-Top Les Paul Honeyburst that I picked up in a trade this morning.
All I can say is WoW! This is one bad mofo....

It has a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates bridge humbucker and a Seymour Duncan Alnico II in the neck.
I haven't had time to formulate what mods I'll be doing to it yet. But I'm smiling like a mule eating briers.

BTW, it came with an Epiphone HSC.

    Overall, I'm pretty well chuffed!

that's pretty top, stranger. Nice. I've thought lots about those pearly gates, and I like that guitar with zebras.

    well done.

If you don't my saying, what did you trade for it. I picked up one identical to that a couple of years ago, without the Seymour Duncans. It was brand new. I just loved the color. It was when they first moved to Clhina and I had an issue with the bridge being at an odd angle. I returned it and picked up a Cherry Burst. Yours looks really amazing and with those pickups it looks like a keeper. I can't imagine why anyone would trade it.

The only way I would buy another Epi is if it had been gutted and the pickups and all electronics upgraded. My bro-in-law has had some hard times lately, so he sold a few of his expensive guitars and bought an Epi Slash LP. Within three months, the toggle switch blew out. I told him last night to throw a Switchcraft in there and have the whole thing rewired and new pickups installed.

Epiphones, the Chinese ones for the most part, are good "platform" instruments that can be made to sound and play very well with upgrades. Yours look like a nice one.
