Default Somewhere to 'go' in winter...

I started a little building project so I would have somewhere to 'go' in the winter

This is on a little property up north where we shut the water off to the cottage around mid October. A few folks have the luxury of a drilled well, and a submerged pump with a heated line... but not us.

That sure is an odd entrance to your doomsday bunker. Can you even get a queen bed to fit in there? It looks a little small for the family.

    Ha! Tele-ish now inbound.

Nice, 'gonq. The screen door entrance is a nice touch, but aren't you worried about... uh... privacy?

I know... the glass door is a bit 'transparent', but the glass will be getting a light frosting and a lace curtain of some form.

It likely won't get used much in the summer time, as we've got plumbing inside when the lake isn't frozen.

Last winter only my son dared come up with me, and this is going to be a huge improvement from a porta potty. So much so that my daughter who is 16 is now willing to come up... wifey, not a chance!

Nice job! I have lived in two places with an outhouse. One was in N.H. back in college days. I lived with a friend in the log cabin he built with some other guys. It was entirely constructed using only old hand tools. Even the root cellar was dug out of that rocky NH soil using shovels. It had a sod roof. The beds we slept in were made from small logs and we used heavy twine stretched back and forth as a box spring ~ LOL
Before we had the out house built we used to go out on a wide plank that extended out over a drop off. A good sense of balance was essential !
When we did get the outhouse built it was pretty cool. My buddy Ron scavenged some big old windows and we used them to form the peak of the roof. So you got to enjoy starlit NH skies while taking care of business
