    Default A Southern Rock Opera

    Has anyone heard

A Southern Rock Opera by The Drive by Truckers?

I'm about a quarter of the way through the first disc & already Neil Young, Ronnie VanZant, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Wallace, & the Devil (getting ready to welcome George Wallace to Hell) have made their appearances. By which, I mean that they are characters in the opera, all the music is played by the Truckers. The music is great too. The tag line "such is the duality of the southern thang".

It's a rock opera that uses Lynyrd Skynyrd to explore the duality of the southern thang.

Here's a writeup from the Drive By Trucker's website.

Also if you go to the Reverend guitars website you'll see these pictures of them playing Reverend guitars. I do not know if they are playing them on this double album. Maybe an expert could tell me.

Like I said, meet my new friend.

The opera could be titled "How to fall off an amusement park ride and mess yourself up before a show."
