    It has to happen eventually if you do enough gigs. What do you guys do when the room is barely alive or just plain empty?

    Use it as a practice session (better known in the aircraft industry as continuous improvement opportunities).

    spinal tap is GREAT. yeah.. usually jokes, which makes things more awkward. or i do random crotch thrusts, which also makes things more awkward. YAY for awkwardness!!

    I am a big Spinal Tap fan too! I play in the "saddest of all keys, D Minor", when the room is empty.
