Default Tommy Emmanuel - on PBS this weekend

I caught a show on PBS this weekend called "Sierra Center Stage". They had Tommy Emmanuel for this concert.

I was completely blown away by this guy. I had seen some of his clips on youtube but this was the first time that I got to see him play through a lot of various tunes. The guy is an absolute genius of guitar. I think that he sets the bar to a new level of what would be considered the best playing out there.

In the interview section he was mentioning that he was a drummer before being a guitar player. You can really tell by the way he uses his guitar as a percussion instrument as well as a melodic one.

I'm glad that I caught this show. I need to get one of his DVD's, any reccomendations? Any other Tommy Emmanuel fans out there?

I've only become aware of him a few years ago. Last year my wife and I saw him in concert in a small church. He is simply amazing. In his hands the acoustic guitar is more than just a string instrument, and that what sets him apart from all the really excellent guitar players. He plays a song called Initiation on that guitar which must be seen to be believed.
