It looks funny because you haven't taken a bandsaw to it, and installed EMGz.

Eew. That makes me want to stop playing bass. Now I'll have to take some bleach to all my basses, just in case he used to own one of them.

Tried to use bass myself. But my friend told me that I look ridiculous and also for me I think it doesn't suit me so I've gone to acoustic since.

I was reminded the other night of why I play very little bass.

Was hanging out doing fireworks with the neighbors (the guys I play with) and while we didn't set up and play full out, the bass player had his bass and amp outside for a bit and the other guy had one of his keyboards out.

I had the bass for a bit and realized fairly quickly that unless I'm playing the bass part of an actual song (I know most of the Zeppelin bass parts) there are very few things I know how to play with the bass.

As fun as the song is to play, there's only so many times I can play "Hamp's Hump" before it gets tiresome.

I'm sure I also looked funny, but I look funny most of the time anyway.
