    Lightbulb Animal magnetism

I have an interesting experiment I may try; mixing two different magnets in a P90. The P90, for those who don't already know, has two bar magnets inside that cover. My experiment, unless someone has a logical reason or reasons to turn me around on this, is to use one ceramic and one Alnico magnet. As I've been told, they should be close in Gauss measurement, or the stronger one will demagnetize the weaker one, so I would most likely use an Alnico 8 magnet.

Has anyone here ever tried this, and if so, what were the results?

    Guitars: Lots.
    Amphs: More than last year.
Pedals: Many, although I go straight from guitar to amp more often lately.

I thought the thread was about an album from a long time ago...

Oh, that was the album I had in mind, Doug. That brings back memories...

Tonerider did this with their Hybrid P90. They mixed Alnico II and Alnico V magnets. The result, IMHO, was combination of the best features of each magnet. How they mounted the magnets in the pickup is a mystery to me as I've never seen one apart. A great concept that does work, so it sounds like a worthwhile project FrankenFretter!
Ah, nothing relieves the discomfort of GAS pains like the sound of the UPS truck rumbling down your street. It's like the musician's Beano.
