    Default Alleykat... Opinions?

    Seeking opinions on Alleykats.

I did read via search that Spud had a buzzy one, and Brian Krashpad may have had one as well, not sure.

I may be able to get intimate with a well-kept one for not too much (I hope).

Weird how the ____kat line was discontinued at Epi

    Lightbulb

It's been discontinued? You sure? Epi just released a new multi-model line [including a WildKat, a Les Paul, and 2 ES-types (Casino, etc.)], each called the Royale:

At any rate, I don't have any direct experience with the double-HB (one a mini) AlleyKat. I found a WildKat (the P-90 model that has a Bigsby trem) in a local pawn for 3 Benjamins, no case. In general I have been very happy with it, although the Bigsby spring is stiff and the guitar probably needs a roller bridge to hold tune better. I don't really use the Bigsby enough to have warranted replacing the bridge or trem spring to date, and these should not be issues with the non-Bigsby'd AlleyKat.

Fwiw, ymmv. I have an online friend who had an AlleyKat and eventually had some weird wood separation thing go on with his, but honestly despite him posting pix I could never tell exactly what was going on with the guitar.

That's all I got. Good luck!

My WildKat (a "Limited Edition Custom Shop" due to the white-blonde color, produced for one year):

Ah, apparently only the Alleykat is now discontinued, per the Epiphone site.

That Wildkat is quite charming and has patina!

    Cool

Thanks, I bought mine pre-mojofied. Whomever owned her prior to me (besides the pawnbroker, that is) rode her hard and put her away wet.

I love my Flamekat. Looks like that one is discontinued as well.

I imagine that the new ones are made in China rather than Korea.

    Guitars: Lots.
    Amphs: More than last year.
Pedals: Many, although I go straight from guitar to amp more often lately.

    Pretty... but need new strings!
(or the strings are painted to match body and fretboard?)

Hey, Mr. Krashpad, your mailbox is full -happened to me as well, with the change to new site.

Thanks. Basically I drink something pretty much all day. Coffee, iced tea, water, or (medically preferred because it breaks up mucous) club soda.

That photo was taken shortly after I'd done my cleanup on her, right after I bought her. I guess I need to take some more recent photos...

The Alleykat may be discontinued but the WildKat is included in Epis Royale series. Take a look
