Yeah, I was concerned initially when I saw this thing, as I love that Butterscotch Black PG look. But I really like my alder body and think I would prefer it to the pine.

I think that's the "catch" Fender wanted to include to keep it different from other BSB models with the same blackguard look, which might have the more traditional alder or (in my case) ash body.@BK, Show off.

Pinecasters are getting to be all the rage these days, so it's not a bad decision, while still making the MIMs and MIAs legitimate upgrade paths. It'd be nice if pine could be used for guitars more readily. We're stupid with it in the U.S. and it grows relatively quickly.

Also, very importantly, that pinecaster sounds real good. To many ears, way better than a lot of other choices one could make, including a lot of way more expensive guitars.
