    Default Need Info on Epi SG Junior

    Hi All,

    Can anyone provide any information on my latest acquisition, an Epiphone SG Junior. Serial number is CI970124XX.

    Specifically, I am looking for info on;

    - When it was made
    - Where it was made
    - How long they were available

    Thanks in advance for your assistance

    Found a few things, but not much success...

    This site only says it was made in 1997:

    Epiphone

    Most regular production models since ca. 1993. Many '80s and early '90s serial numbers may follow a similar scheme, but may not include a factory ID code.
    FYYMMRRRR
    F= Factory code (this can be 2 letters as well)
    YY= year of manufacture (this can also be just 1 digit for '90s models)
    MM= month of manufacture
    R= ranking number (may be more or less digits, not necessarily indicative of total units produced)
    Example - S02021234 was issued in Feb. 2002.

    Another code used on some current Epiphone models
    FYYMRRRR
    F= Factory code
    YY=Year of manufacture
    M= This will be a letter code corresponding to the month (A=January, B=February, etc...)
    RRRR= ranking number
    Example - R03D0263 was issued in April 2003.

    Epiphone Elite/Elitist models
    FYSSSS
    F= Factory Code (this code will be an "F" or "T")
    Y= Year of manufacture (2 = 2002, 3 = 2003, etc.)
    SSSS= Sequential Serial Number
    Example - T41234 is a 2004 Elitist model.

    Easy Epiphone Serial Numbers Guide

    Epiphone Serial numbers can tell you quite a bit about that guitar, you just have to know how to read them!
    Decoding Epiphone serial numbers will help you when you’re buying or selling an Epiphone guitar.
    You can find out:
    -what country the guitar was made in,
    -how old it is,
    -what factory it was made in, and
    -what the manufacturing number is

    For an example, let’s choose the serial number from a guitar:

    example:I04031245

    This is what each character means:
    “I” = Factory/Country
    “04″ = Year of Manufacture (2004)
    “03″ = Month of Manufacture (March)
    “1245″ = Manufacturing Number
    This is the factory/country code “cheatsheet”:
    KOREA: I= Saein, U=Unsung, S=Samick, P or R=Peerless
    CHINA: DW=DeaWon, EA=Gibson/QingDao, EE=Gibson/QingDao, MC=Muse, SJ=SaeJung, Z=ZaozhuangSaehan, BW=China
    JAPAN: No letter or F=FujiGen,J or T=Terada
    INDONESIA: SI=Samick
    So this particular axe was made in March of 2004 in the Saein factory in Korea

    Tig,

    Thanks, already checked Guitar Dater Project out... no factory in database. Have enlisted Gibson's help on this and production run dates of the 2 versions I have found on-line.
