Saw The JayHawks last night and they were just terrible. I got the tickets in an auction so never heard of the band before but I wasn't very impressed. Each song sounded the same and the lead singer had a horrible voice. I like all kinds of music but this band didn't do a thing for me.

Really? I saw them last fall around here and they were great. It was my first time seeing them, but I thought they sounded really good and it was a fun concert. I should note that I'm a huge fan of theirs, so I think I had every song pretty much memorized. That makes a big difference for me in how enjoyable a concert is. My wife went with me and though she didn't know that much of their material, she also thought it was a really good show.

That said, I can't think of a band more opposite of your musical preferences, at least based on what I've seen here. The Jayhawks are rootsy country rock, and you tend to like modern metal, so I guess maybe that could have something to do with it. Of course, it's always possible you just saw them on a bad night. Bummer either way, I guess.

I've never seen the Jayhawks, but I have the majority of their albums and enjoy their music quite a bit. I'm not the biggest fan of Mark Olson as a singer in general, but his voice fits their music well.

I like all sorts of music, well, except for RAP (even then I like the old stuff and Cypress Hill) so that isn't the issue. My wife went with me as well and she was harsher on them than I. Sure, they might have had an off night but I can generally find something in a performance to like. They just didn't do it for me. No worries, to each his own.

A few weeks ago I saw Khatia Buniatishvili at The Chan Centre. For such a young lady, she put on a fantastic show.

Well, it's official! My son and I and three friends are going to see Maiden! Unfortunately, one of them dragged his feet and so we are in the bleachers instead of undercover. Hopefully there's not a torrential downpour. Found out that Orianthi is Alice Cooper's lead guitarist for this tour! Should be pretty fretteriffic.

My wife just got us tickets to Van Halen in May. Can't wait! Oddly enough, Kool and The Gang are their opening act.

I'd love to see Kool & The Gang provided they stick to their 70s material as opposed to "Celebrate" and such.

It pays to introduce your spouse to blues and other music styles: While I was away, my sweetie struck and got tickets for Stevie Windwood, Paco de Lucia, and Esperanza Spalding.

Other: What were the chances of going to some old lady's estate sale and find three R.L. Burnside CDs? Closet blues hound, or she had a young boyfriend with taste?

Mrs. T brings home CD's from garage sales, too. Usually stuff I already have or don't listen to, but sometimes I get lucky. She also thoroughly enjoys every concert we go to since she had never been to any live music shows before we met.

OK, this sucks. My sister decided that she is going to get married that day, so now we can't go. On top of it all, I need to find a way to unload my tickets or I'm out $120.

Sorry to hear it Marnold. I didn't get to see the Budos Band show I'd been looking forward to either as my new job requires me to work a couple of Saturdays while we prepare the new issue of the magazine for press. This time it happened to fall on the same day of the show. I guess there could be worse reasons to miss a show than finding a new job but it still sucked.

Bought a ticket to see Wilco over at the Idaho Botanical Gardens in Boise! http://www.idahobotanicalgarden.org/...&feature_id=40 Very excited to go. I like Tweedy's songs, and am stoked to see Nels and the boys.

Will likely also see Bonnie Raitt with my wife in SV, with Mavis Staples. Norah Jones is also coming to Boise, and my wife is going too see her with her mom friends. I would be interested to see that show if it was a Willies style show, but not so much if it is her solo work, and it is billed as a Norah show. I bet my wife will have fun though.

Cool. I saw them once with Sonic Youth when I was first getting into their music (YHF era). I've only heard their new album a couple of times, but it seems better than their last one, which seemed kind of milquetoast to me.

Nice. That's a funny term. I know what you mean, but it's funny to see it couched that way.
