Default In the market for a vintage Strat??

    Well, HERE you go!

Seriously, it's in amazing shape for it's age, although it says the finish has been refurbed. Imagine finding one of these in Uncle Ned's closet!

Pictures of the rockinger - keep 'em coming Elavd! However, I'm not sure I'd prefer a rockinger to a '54 strat...

Hey, guys--isn't this the Vintage & Reissue Gear forum? Maybe we need a German Strat Copy forum!

Yeah, let's stay on topic - the big photos can go in the Rockinger thread.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. For $146 thou, I'd think that anything other than "all original" would be a real problem for prospective buyers. Plus, the refinishing was done by the same guy who certified the authenticity of the guitar. Think that might be a wee bit of a conflict of interest??

Can you even conceive of making a purchase of this sort based on a few photos and an "honest to God" text description on eBay??? At the very least, I'd want the payment held by a third party pending an independent appraisal of the instrument.

Thats a lot of money for a original 54 strat let alone a refinished one . That guy is just fishin to see what bids he might get . George Gruhn, is one of the best and has an impeccable reputation , more than likely the appraisal is for far less than the money he's asking .Grunh's Guitars of Nashville has been around along time , just google them , their vintage guitar inventory and customer list is amazing , and their restoration team is world class, so its probably a very good correct refin , but a refin none the less.
your'e right DVM not likely anybody is going to buy that guitar based on those pics alone , but a quick call to Grunh's for verificatin and some pics of the tell tale areas might help a prospective buyer make a reasonable offer ..all 3 digit strats are in a registry so authentication should be fairly easy .. clean 54's can bring 75k on a good day . Make you wonder where the prices are gonna go in the next 5 years , better go look under Uncle Ned's bed ... 6S9L

Wow, good info there 6S9L--pays to have a pro around who knows who's who in vintage guitars. So sounds like it's almost surely authentic. Still a tad more than I want to spend, though....

If clean '54s can bring $75K on a good day (according to 6S9L, and I have no reason to doubt), a refin at roughly double that amount should send LOTS of flags up!!!

It appears that there is one offer. I'd sure like to know for how much!
