Default NGD: 2000 Indonesian Squier Standard

I had been wanting a black/maple Strat for awhile (thinking either Gilmour's black strat or Blackie), and saw a Craigslist posting for a black/maple Squier Standard on Craigslist. He was asking $65 with a gig bag and Randall practice amp, which I didn't need. In email, the seller said that the strat needed TLC and that it rattled, was good for a beater or for parts. It turns out that it is metallic black (couldn't tell in the photo and wasn't mentioned in his description) and the body and neck are in great condition. The rattling was simply due to the fact that there was no high E string, so the post was rattling (as I had suspected before even seeing the guitar). I paid $40 for the Squier and a nice gig bag. Not the score of the century, but I am very happy with the deal. I took off the old strings and had to wipe the fretboard down with naptha because there was some crud/dirt that made the neck look reliced. I haven't restrung it and plugged it in yet. It's got stock ceramic pickups in it. I'll check out how those sound and decide whether I want to keep them in or not. I've been so busy this week that I haven't had the time to string it up and take it for a test run.

Thanks, guys. The tremolo block only has two springs on it. I ordered a few springs so I can get the bridge flush with the body and get the guitar in tune.
