Mace Windu was probably the best of the Jedi. He pretty much had Palpatine in his hands and could have easily done away with him had Anakin not been there. Sure sure Anakin was the most powerful Jedi we all have come to know.....but at the end there Master Windu could have ended it all on that ledge.
