Fender Marauder

This is my relatively new Fender Marauder. I think this is a really cool guitar. The neck Jazzmaster pickup is really nice sounding and capable of some great tones. The bridge "Triplebucker" is, in my opinion, awesome - although some people don't care much for it. The guitar has a five way switch that goes from just the JM neck pickup, to the JM plus one of the coils on the triple bucker, to just a single coil of the triple bucker, to full double rail humbucking from the triple bucker, to the full three rails of the triple bucker at the same time.

The versatility of the guitar is really nice and I like all of the switch positions. Also, all of the pickup settings on the five way switch are "quiet". I really like how quiet all of the pickup selections are, even thru a high gain amp it sounds great.

The neck on this guitar is totally tight flamed maple all the way up the neck, one ring after another. I really appreciate these highly flamed necks and find them very hard to find. I only have two guitars that have highly flamed necks. I noticed that some of the pro's like Clapton, Jonny Lang, etc., have some guitars with remarkable flamed maple necks. I'm surprised that they occasionally show up on regular guitars.

I play this guitar a lot and the quality is remarkable. The neck has an excellent feel to it and the guitar is very ergonomic and easy to play. I like the strat trem, personally, better than the usual Jazzmaster/Jaguar tremolo and bridge. I put the knurled chrome flat top Fender P Bass knobs on it to replace the unsightly "amp" knobs, in my opinion, that came stock; I did the same to my Blacktop Fender strat.

If you see one of these guitars in a shop, I encourage you to try it out. I ignored one in a local shop for probably at least a year and when I finally played it I was really surprised at how much I liked it. I ordered one from a big internet place not long after that.

They are really versatile Krash. Quiet and fun to play. They are just plain nice guitars in my opinion. Very nice build quality and awesome sound thru a Fender or a Marshall.

I see you are getting into that Gibson LP Jr with the P90's. It looks like those are very hard to find anymore, new at least. I don't know what is going on with Gibson. They dropped some of their nicest guitars and came out with new versions and new items. That's a topic for another discussion.

I understand exactly what you are saying SVL. Evidently there are a lot of design concerns with the stock JM's and Jaguars.

This one has the Fender strat type trem and it is very nice and eliminates the work that many people do replacing the stock trems and bridges - and then some of them still say that the strings jump out of the saddles, etc. Those JM/Jag replacement bridges and especially the nice bridges, like the Mastery, are not cheap.

The Marauder also has Jumbo frets, which I like. It has a Fender strat type scale at 25.5 inches. The neck has a great feel - I would say it is a little wide, possibly, and definitely non-baseball bat like. For me, it plays easily and the neck feels very good. You can get a lot of bright tones out of it and one switch position has a lot of strat "quack" to it. The tone knob is very useful to warm up the bright sounds on a couple switch settings, if you feel it is necessary. I like the bright sound. There are two or three switch positions that mellow out the sound, considering the humbucker and switch positions.

For not big money, I would say you get a lot of guitar.

Your CVC project sounds like it is going to yield an exceptional guitar.

That looks like a real winner with the Strat style tremolo, but I was already sold by the blue finish! I like a bright toned guitar, too.

That git has been on my radar since it's release. Gorgeous, broad tone options, well built and cheap! I heard they were a Stupid Deal of the Day a few weeks ago. Kinda glad I missed that.

I just got rid of my Marauder GAS, but I suddenly feel a relapse coming on.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Yeah, I like the strat trem. The guitar doesn't have any of the typical JM/Jag string jumping out of the bridge saddles or bridge rattling problems. The guitar is bright in tone, but not at all ice picky. The JM neck pickup sounds great.

The store I tried one out at had the black one and I wanted the Lake Placid Blue one, so I ordered it. I actually lived one town over from Lake Placid and worked about five miles from Lake Placid. I grew up near there in Lake George, NY.
