Hey guys
Just thought I'd share this easy-going jazz play-along - it's a medium swing jazz practice backing track made for improvising on the essential and classic minor 2-5-1 progression - in the key of A Minor.
If you are just starting out in jazz, learning to navigate a 2-5-1 progression is a good start.... and playing in a minor key (rather than major) may also be more natural to most...especially us guitar players eh!....
Chord progression:
II: Bmin7b5 I E7 I Amin7 I Amin7 :II
On the track, you will hear extensions of these chords - as is common in jazz of course
Scale suggestions:
A minor scale - A B C D E F G (A)
(Bmin7b5 chords and Amin7 chords)
A harmonic minor scale - A B C D E F G# (A)
(E7 chords)
Basic arpeggios:
Bmin7b5 arpeggio = B D F A
E7 arpeggio = E G# B D
Am7 arpeggio = A C E G
Here's a minor 2-5-1 guitar lick you can try out
