Back during the summer, many of you may remember I changed out the pots and caps in my Squire Telecaster Custom Deluxe. During the past 5 months or so I just was not happy with the tone and lack of control on the volume. No matter how I tweaked the tone controls, the sound was too flat. I also notice I lost volume very quickly going below 6 on the volume.

This weekend I decided to look into the problem. I took the pick guard off and measure both volume pots. The reading where erratic and from the number 6 to 0 the meter read infinite. I installed new pots in the 2 volume positions. I got instant 100% improvement in tone, volume and loudness in the guitar. Evidently I must have overheated the two volume pots when I first installed them. Lesson learned: Use a low wattage iron and place heat sink on the leads that are being soldered.
