Rockin' in the Free World

I posted a cover of this awesome Neil Young tune sometime back in 2011. Then I recorded the guitars using my old Line 6 PodXT which is now long gone.
I was trying to record a more modern distorted tone and, at the time, thought it was decent. When I listen back on old recordings I tend to nitpick about things
and how it could have been done differently, etc. Amp modeling for guitars just keeps getting better and better you'd think it's almost too easy to lay down great tone but..
there's always that tweak here and that tweak there.

Anyway, I though the tone was kinda "buzzy" so I wanted to test if it could be done better this time with software modeling - using Scuffham S-Gear. This VST combined
with a few mastering, EQ, and compression plugins was all I used within my DAW of choice TRACKTION 7.

I think the S-Gear sounds very musical and amp-like. I only use it for recording but there are some who've set up some elaborate ways of playing out with the software.
There's way too many ways to skin a cat nowadays...

I think the rhythm tones are very live sounding ... Marshally for sure. Like to hear what the same or similar settings produce for the solos. Modelling is truly changing the landscape if you can't afford 2rock prices/don't have a setup to crank good amps to get what they are great at. Sounds good.
