    Default LOVE Alnico 2

    After going back to my Carvin with the SD Custom Custom/alnico 2 mag,
    I know this is my thing... Ceramic and even alnico 5 are too strident/painful to my ears....

    so,

    anyone have any experience with other Alnico 2 full size humbuckers they can share?..
    Which ones you've tried, which you've kept in, and in which guitar...

    My Gibson '57 PAF neck pickup is Alnico II and I agree...it's sweet sounding.

    My old Pearly Gates Bridge pickup was also Alnico II and that was also tone heaven. I currently have a Dimarzio Virtual PAF in the bridge which is Alnico V...slightly spankier for the bridge.

    I've got a Pearly Gates neck pickup and it's ok, but I'm thinking it might be wired wrong because it doesn't really do much for me. It' Alnico II

    I've also got a JB, Screamin Demon and a Jazz and those are all Alnico V and I like them better.

    I'll have to check my wiring on the PG though. Maybe I'll change my opinion if it is indeed off and I correct it.
