Default Les Paul Studios' with the heaviest body

    hi,
can you tell me if there are years or models I can seek out?

Those Studios' with the heaviest bodies...? I want a heavy body...

Don't want neck heavy diving guitars like the new Studios I just tried. "newer, lightweight" blah blah -- - NO
    So beautiful, so unplayable

    thanks

You want a 10 pounder eh? I'm gonna say it's hit and miss with the weights on most Studios. I don't know which years were "heavier". For reference mine is about 8 pounds...not too heavy, and it was made in 1986. My ash bodied Tele weighs around that much if not heavier. Lets see if you hear from 90's Studio owners.

Which Studios did you play? "Standard" Studios or the Premium Plus models?
Guitars/Bass - MIM Fender Classic 50s Strat, MIM Fender Standard Strat, Squier Classic Vibe 50s Tele, Gibson Les Paul Studio, Epi '56 Gold Top Les Paul, Martin DSR acoustic, Sigma Martin Auditorium electric/acoustic, Squier Jazz Bass.

Amps/Cabinets/Modelers - Model 2558 50 watt Marshall Silver Anniversary Jubilee combo w/ Celestion Vintage 30s, 4x12 Marshall cabinet w/25 watt Greenback Celestions, Fender Blues Junior w/ a couple of Billm mods, Line 6 POD 2.0, Roland Micro Cube

Pedals/Effects - Cry Baby Classic Wah, Boss TU-2, Boss NS-2, Boss RC-2 Loop Station, Ross Compressor, MXR Micro Amp, Danelectro FAB Echo, Danelectro FAB Chorus, Danelectro Chicken Salad, Marshall Guv'nor Plus, Marshall Echohead, Duhvoodooman's Zonkin' Yellow Screamer, Digitech Digiverb, Digitech Bad Monkey, Dunlop Fuzz Face, Homemade Loop Bypass pedal, Duhvoodooman's Sonic Tonic (Maxon SD-9 clone +), Voodoo Labs Superfuzz

    OK thanks-
I'm not sure the model names but they were very shiny! And had new Gibson tags on them.
I see used ones on Ebay 800-950 range but the new ones on MF are only $999.!! .. I'm befuddled. No cash raised yet anyways. But I must know.

SGs are neck heavy. For the most part you should be fine with any Les Paul model....studios...standards etc. Some are heavier than others it just varies. Even if made in the same month. I guess density of the wood plays a part in this. I'm not sure if different types of fretboard make a dramatic difference. I forgot to mention that my fretboard on my Studio is ebony (for your reference again).

My Studio Plus weighs in at 10.8 pounds. My Standard is a featherweight at 8.2 pounds. I've never encountered a neck heavy LP, even among the lightweight LP's.

In most instances the lust for more Gibsons continues on even when you snag one. You'll find yours!

true....as much as i love my '98 Special....i am looking for a standard with dual humbuckers....i am finally going to get to redesign Ron's Music Shack website so i told him to be on the lookout for a decent standard for a partial barter for the website!

since he is not a gibson dealer (gibson's policies pretty much eliminated most mom and pop stores from selling their guitars) i have told him to keep his eye out for a nice used "player" standard....not looking for a collectible just a nice solid gibby!

Have any used Gibsons past through his store in the past? The last used one I saw at Music Go Round was a very clean Vintage Mahogany and they were selling it for $600. There wasn't a scratch on it and it played nice. I hope you find a Standard dood.
