    Default Epiphone Sheraton II. Opinions?

I am thinking of buying a more jazz-oriented guitar but not very expensive...

I love the sound of a Gibson ES-335 but I can't afford it...
I was thinking of the Epiphone Sheraton II.

What's your opinion for this guitar? Has anyone played it?
Is it a good one? How about playability?

Also does it sound similar to a 335?

I played 2 of them at a local shop in town just before Christmas. Both sounded nice and felt pretty good. They were both made very well. I've played friend's 335s before but that years ago. From my memory of those 335s I would say that you'd probably be happy with a Sheraton II. You've got the Gibson bug biting you I can see. Get a Sheraton II for now and then save for that Gibby LP.

I played a Sheraton II briefly when I was shopping for a semi-hollowbody, and didn't particularly like it. Felt kind of big and klunky to me, and I'm a large guy. I found the Epi Dot much more to my liking. As you may be aware, the Dot is Epiphone's version of the 335. In addition to the regular Dot, which typically sells for $400 new here in the US, there's also a Deluxe version with gold-plated hardware, flame maple top, and '57 Classic Alnico II p'ups for $500. Great values, IMO--especially vs. a "real" 335 at over $2,000! Here's a pic of mine (modded, of course!):

That is one nice Epiphone Voo. I like the black coil Duncan with it.

I sure like her! Nice mellow tones from the Jazz neck p'up, and screamin' leads from the JB bridge!

And the 4 push-pull potss are fun to play around with, when I can remember what they all do!!

Go down to page to the AV3, which is vintage's top of the range 335 copy. Now, considering how good their basic strat copy was, I would have no doubts in recommending this guitar, and the reviews say this is excellent too.
