Talking Great News: Got my new ax and its a beaut !!

Yes folks, a dream come true ! My wonderful wife gave full permission for me to buy another guitar. Even talked me into one better then i had my sights on !! I was going to pick up a mex. s/s/s std strat at L&M Music but she went along and talked me into getting this one.

The fender american deluxe stratocaster . Its a beauty with a 3 tone sunburst, 3ply pickguard w/b/w , strap locks, snap in tremo arm, roller string tree, tuners that I cant even identify yet. heck look here.
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ter?sku=511142

They can give better specs than I can, All i can say is wow this thing is awesome. tone is fantastic more pick up settings then i know what to do with and all of em sound great, even thru my p.o.s. amp (next GAS treatment.) Soon as i figure out the trouble w/ my digital camera i will post a few pix. this is one worth seeing !!

Gotta go,have some serious fender fondling to do now.
p.s. Did I mention I love my wife?

Sweet! You got a nice wife!
Did you go for maple or rosewood fretboard?
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

Kind of reminds me of a little Fender joke I've heard a couple times, regarding the Mexi Strat and American made ones: Your choice- you can have a guitar made in Mexico by Mexicans or made in California by Mexicans. :P

Anyway, niiiiice guitar. You're very lucky and I'm very jealous.

btw, the Mexi you were going to get....how much was that going to cost? I'm in the early throes of Strat GAS here, but have to plan my strategy.

    Smile ..well...

thanks guys , warren yes but shes old, obnoxious and unattractive.she's not without her good points though, she lives out of town swede mine has the maple neck it seems to be a modern c which seems slightly thinner then on the 50's reissues ive seen but not as thin as others i have tryed. I have fairly large hands so its not an issue, I figured when i change out to 1o's this neck will have enuff beef to resist the extra pressure. This neck was not as thick as the SRV signature the music store guy told me to hold for him while he got the other one down. heh(this was after my wife made comment about my favorite guitarist.) so i actually was allowed to touch a SRV !! Banner day for the carp!!I did twang away at it but it lacked set up and the strings were a mile high Its pretty much a blur now i cant recall what gauge they seemed to be.AWESoMELY BEAUTIFUL GUiTAR though. Told my wife when he handed it to me,"they better lock the door first so i dont run off with it."
Danzego the MIM was $429.00 would have been about 470 out the door the delux american was 1199. with our state sales tax i guess i bought the governor a MIM too. Also when shopping for mine, i noticed that not all necks were the same quality, hold the guitar where you can look down it, the neck should make a gentle concave shape and there should not be any 'high' spots .I was surprised there was a difference in the trend from a guitar center to the L&M music that i went to, but LL the necks in the music store were good to great, the necks i saw at guitar center were mostly poor. there were a few that were good, unfortunately the MIM i liked there natural body, rosewood fretbd and tortoise pickguard with cream pups had frankenneck on it. it was truly beautiful and i would have snapped it up, but the neck was very uneven looking down it, it had 2 different high spots in the frets.
I have had the same trouble with the import guitars i have seen.

    Still fender fondling, Carp3nt3r.

    Congrats on your SWEET guitar!

I wanted to purchase mine in Vintage White when I got my 1st one but they didn't have it. As soon as I get both of the ones all setup the way I like... BAM! Musicians Friend has a limited run in the color I wanted! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!

Well I did refinish the silver body from the one I built from parts in Shell Pink and it is by far my favorite color. I get compliments on its tone and beauty at every gig.

    Enjoy!

    -Trem

P.S. Do you find the abalone fret dots hard to find on the maple neck? I love the on my rosewood neck but hate them on the maple. I wish they offered them in black... so much easier to see in a dark club.

heh van halen, never thought about that one...

walrus...? (scratching head with flipper..i dont get it?)

the tiesco was given to my bro in law on some paint job he was on and he gave it to my son to twang around on. it needs new strings and some light cleaning to be in decent shape, the sound is a little thin but may be due to cold solder or old cruddy strings, havent had the lid off it yet to see. as time progresses we may do some exploraTION on it , age im guessing early 70's but thats only my guess , i really havent a clue. the bar that is the bridge has no gooves to keep the strings spaced ,so high freq bends dont work too well other then that the action seems nice enough.

the pups sound very nice on the few amps Ive run it thru, a nice amp is my next GAS fix......looking at a line 6 i think... the s1 feature of this guitar gives you many options as far how the pups sound. Between this and a good modelling amp I think all desired tones are within grasp.
