    Default "Let me introduce myself......."

Hi, to you all..............forgot to introduce myself before I posted elsewhere............apologies Guys.

Have used Rob's site many times and it only seemed natural to find out who else finds it of use.......

It's easier to say what I don't play...........Heavy metal, grunge and 2000 notes per second stuff, never touch it..............

Apart from that anything goes, Stones, Rock...and Roll, Acoustic Ragtime, Queen...........ah......yes.....and the Blues....Robert Johnson and upwards..........a bit of Rockabilly........Rev Gary Davis........AC/DC........I would call it all 'Good Music'

Anyway here is a picture of my current arsenal............

..........and then added this at Christmas........

Welcome Fingers! (Great name) - that's a stunning collection of guitars you got! I also have a Santana SE & AD50VT, there's lots of Vox players here and indeed Tele players so you'll fit right in. Interesting also that you've got both a Line6 Spider and a Vox Valvetronix - there's been many debates on here on the merits of these two amps, it'd be great to get your unique perspective.

Welcome again and enjoy the forum.

Welcome Fingers! Please wash them, we dont want any "sticky fingers" on our gear

    By the way, you...are....not...related to...Justa...Guyin...NC?
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

Hey it's a habit..... means mind is thinking and fingers are not......

Welcome aboard Fingers... keep the periods going.... it counts for characters in every post.... Hmmm wonder how many .....I added in my life on the net...

I can try to write appropriate, but it would not be me.
If I wanted to be a writer of words..... ummm... I would have learned some long ago...

Ahhh.....I know....give him a centimetre and he will take a smorgesbord

At last someone else out there that 'speaks' like me.............those periods just give you a natural rhythm.............I live near Stratford on Avon, UK......home of William Shakespeare.........iambic pentameter and all that, you know rhythmic speech.................must be in the water or the air, I s'pose.

Thanks for your kind welcome, Guys........I hope that I can, both, take and add a little something from here.

    Hi Fingers
Welcome aboard mate. Nice to see another Fretter with a hearty toy collection. I should get treatment for mine. I hope that doesn't happen for you...or maybe it should...because you'll end up with more toys. Ya, that part I haven't figured out yet.

    Enjoy.

    Welcome fingers,

There are a lot of friendly folks on this site, and lots of good discussions on all kinds of topics surrounding guitar playing, music, etc.

I like your collection of toys!
Tell us more about your 335? Is it a Gibson or Epiphone (I couldn't see the headstock so I wasn't sure). I really like 335's too although I don't own one right now.

Welcome Fingers! Love that collection. Are those Martins in the back row? Please do tell. I have been having Martin lust for most of a year now. Lots of other nice axes in that shot too. Could you give us a rundown on them?

Well Rob, Ahhh....yes, closest to my heart.......................?

    Well..........here we go,

The Kimbara 12 string was my 2nd guitar back in 1977........yep I learned to play guitar on it..............The first time I popped my cherry was standing on one leg in a hammock............why have an easy life.............?

The acoustic Yamaha FG345 II is the first guitar my wife bought me, back in '79. It has the most beautiful sound to it, I love playing everything on it.

The banjo, I was given, for those....."Squeal like a pig, Boy!" moments.....and duelling banjoes................

The PRS Santana SEII........my wife bought me, 3 years ago as I fancied having a go at the electric guitar, along with the Line 6.

It was only a few weeks later that I found out about the Brian May copies..........just had to have one....and bought the lil' Vox at the same time.

The mini May guitar I bought for my son as he is learning to play.........he is stunning at 8 years old......

The spanish/classical was bought for my daughter to learn on at school and now Jon takes it in...........on his first lesson I sent him in with the mini May and the lil' Vox and he played the intro and solo from "I want to break free"...the Queen toon, you should have seen the look on the teachers face as Jon was playing...........awesome.........he was asked to bring an acoustic in next week.......

Anyway, the Peavy Strat is Jons and very good it is.

So, now I am down to the Keefs Telecasters and 335.......

I had a big surge of GAS for one of these......

Soooooooo..........as I was turning 50 at christmas, my wife offered to get me one........a Japanese 52ri, modified to have a Lollar Imperial humbucker fitted by Charlie Chandler.........who turns out to be the guy that Keef and Ronnie Wood send their guitars to before they go on tour.

I went to see the Stones 2 months before 'My' Micawber was ready...........Ohhhhh, I just had to get a Tele after that so went and bought the Lil' squier butterscotch, fitted a Seth Lover H/B to it etc etc............

.............Then 2 days before christmas I take my wife to our local emporium to get a strap for the 52ri..............while she is paying for it, present from the kids, I go off to wander, as you do,....................and there was my sighting of an Ebony Sheraton....................my wife came up behind me and said "Mmmm...I love black guitars, shall I get it you for christmas?"

.....................so in the space of 48 hours I got the 52ri and the Sheraton to complete the Keef set.........

......................and there you have it, a story for each of the guitars.

So, Rob, in answer to your question, they are all dear to my heart.

The Yamaha 6 string is my desert island guitar and the PRS is the electric I go to when learning new bits..........................

    Sorry for the ramble....................
