I think because people are so judgemental and particular when it comes to music. I know I used to get intimidated by more skilled players since in the past I used to hear "you suck" and "you'll never learn how to play that thing" when I first started. I hung around with people who could play like EVH so it was rough forme starting out.

Tremo - I liked playing with people better than me. I tried to make it a point to play with guys who were IT around here. I learned a lot from them and all of them were actually pleased when I'd ask them "hey show me that lick". They spent a great deal of time and energy making sure I understood what they were doing. I'll always be grateful for that. There are some of you in here that I'd like to rub minds with too.

My Youtube videos get comments like "You suck", and "useless", etc, all the time...

But I don't let it affect me too much. I know my limits and I am what I am.

Why apologize. I totally suck & I know it. On the other hand a year ago I picked up my first guitar. If you want to hear a completely lame player listen to me a year ago.

You get lots of positive comments too, especially on your own website... But to be popular on youtube you probably need bigger boobs
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

yes for me its real natural to do this too.... its usually when I've got something to show or getting opinions from great players.

Here's a thread elsewhere where I got some helpful comments on this type of issue:
