Default Is this the best Blues Tone? DR Z CONTENT

I found this clip of Buddy Whittington a god of a Blues player.
He's playing a DR Z Carmen Ghia 18w amp, which is his main amp.

A tone to die for like I think. Those DR Zs and Elmwoods (from Sweden) are really the best two amps I have heard and played in a long long time.

Check also Buddies other clips - this guy is an insane player and it is unbelievable how dynamic the 18w amp reacts to his playing.

I think he's playing a Lentz HSL in that clip. Nice axe.

Nice tone indeed. Not sure that it qualifies as the "best", but it's right up there.

I was just in the car picking up Chinese food for the family, and I would dare say that Robben Ford's tone on "Step On It", which I heard in transit, is among the finest LP blues toneage I've ever heard. Talk about thick, rich & creamy!!

I love Robben Ford's tone, but sometimes I think it is a little too polished. Anyways, talking modern blues tone Robben is among my TOP 10, besides such guys as Henderson who's got an excellent blues tone, too.

There are so many great players with wonderful guitar sound it's hard for me to point to one.
I remember thirty years ago I thought this group was pretty hot.

    The link sez:

Lentz B'Kaster pickup in the "treble" position and L-90 in the "rhythm"

So they are clearly an in-house telecaster-style at the bridge & an in-house P90 on the neck.

& yes that is some sweet raunchy tone.

Oh-oh, we've got the makings of our very own Robben Ford tone thread here on the Fret.

To save time I've put the next few posts below:

    Somebody: The ultimate.

Somebody else: ehhh, puts me to sleep.

Third body: His tone makes angels weep.

Lo! another: I prefer some bite in my tone.

Tone Junky: Like a double thick milkshake.

Junk Toney: Give me a wheel in the track.

    Guy: His tone is perfect.

D00d: Are you saying that (list of 20 players) don't have perfect tone?

    -------------------------------------------

Ah, what fun! Everybody's doing it.
    I pick a moon dog.
