Default David Gilmour Signature Stratocaster - September release!

    From the Gilmour site:

We told you back in November that there were plans by Fender to produce a custom model of David's black Stratocaster, which is the one he has been playing most of all throughout the 'On An Island' tour.
Well, if you were one of the many excited guitar enthusiasts who didn't quite relish waiting until July 2008 to get your hands on one, then we have some very good news.
It will be out this year, to coincide with the release of David's 'Remember That Night' DVD.
The provisional price tag is said to be around $4,000 in the US and £2,000 in the UK.
Please note that it is a signature model, not a tribute model. Therefore it is not a 'perfect' replica of David's, but it does have the same wood, pickups, neck, fixtures, etc.
More details to follow in the next week or two, so please don't ask. We can't add anything to the above at this time, unfortunately.
Indeed, these are all provisional details, hot off the press and subject to change. We just wanted to give you an update on how plans are progressing.

    Read it here: http://davidgilmour.musicblog.co.uk/2007/06/

I would assume these will sell around $2000.00 when they hit the online outlets..
ummm..anyone got a few grand I can borrow?

Have faith Justa, it will come to you. Listen to Master Yoda2TheBone.
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

I don't think actually that this specific signature guitar will be much different than a typical 57ri but with a black pickguard and maybe a short tremolo arm...

Although I am A BIG BIG fan of Gilmour, I am not convinced that this guitar will worth it's money...

I've have made a Gilmour-based partscater, that costed approximately 700€ and I think it worths every cent that I've paid for it:

Well there is news folks and pictures.

    http://www.davidgilmour.com/

and over on the blog - http://blog.davidgilmour.com/

    2 versions: (from this link)
    There are two models:
    • The 'Relic', which replicates the 'Black Strat' as it is today with aged parts and worn paint, plus all the wear and tear of David's heavily-used 30-year-old guitar – with no backplate.
    • The 'New Old Stock' model, which replicates the 'Black Strat' as it is now – but with all-new parts, 'new' paint finish and an additional white plastic backplate. The NOS model should be found at a lower retail price than the 'Relic'.

    I'll do Strum one better.

    I'm knocking it.

I'd much rather have a great quirky-brand guitar that is all about those who are gonna play it & not about some famous wanker be it EC, SRV, Hendrix, Gilmour, John Mayer, EJ, Jeff Beck yada, yada, yada.

They can have their guitars. I want mine.

    Gorgeous guitar.

I can't see shelling out insane money on a Strat. I can build my own. I actually did kinda make my old Lonestar gilmourish...just has a humbucker

As cool as I think some of this is the fact is these are for collecting, not playing. These sigs aren't for the average Joe.
